1- THE GREAT PYRAMID

Khufu, whose father Sneferu had designed the first true Pyramid at the Giza Plateau. It was made out of 3,200,0000 limestone blocks, each weighing an average of 2.5 tonnes. His sarcophagus of black stone, also carved with niched panels, was found inside but lost at sea as it was transported to England.

2- THE GREAT SPHINX

The Great Sphinx of Giza is the world’s tallest, oldest and perhaps most prominent monumental statue, and on the Giza Plateau, an iconic emblem of ancient Egypt was carved from limestone. It is generally believed that Khafara’s presence was carved into the head of the Great Sphinx (Chephren)

5-THE SOLAR BOAT MUSEUM

In a pit on the south side of the Great Pyramid, the Solar Bark was found. It was reassembled near the site of its discovery (from more than 600 initial pieces), measuring more than 42 m in length and 5 metres in width.

6- THE VALLEY TEMPLE

9- Memphis City

The ancient Egyptian city of Manf, Mnnnfr, or Memphis – one of the World Heritage Sites – was founded by King Narmer in 3200 BC. In the Old Kingdom period (dynasties 3-6) it was the capital of Egypt as well as the era when the god Ptah (god of craftsmen and architects) was worshipped.

Memphis was the first capital of Ancient Egypt. Most of the pyramids found near Cairo, numbering well over 100 in total, were built during this period when Memphis was the most important city in Egypt and most probably the world.

10- Museum in Meet Raheena

The statue of Ramses II at the entrance and the massive statue of Ramses II on the ground are among the most important monuments in the open museum of Meet Raheena – the remaining ruins of ancient Memphis. The image of the Sphinx and some other monuments also have a statue of Alabaster.

11- Step Pyramid at Sakkara

One of the most important archaeological sites in all of Egypt is Djoser’s Step Pyramid at Saqqara. This structure predates them, although it may not be as spectacular or as famous as the Giza Pyramids, and it is crucial to the understanding of the history of pyramid construction by archaeologists.

The structure consists of six separate layers of diminishing size constructed on top of each other, or steps. Archeologists understand that this is an embellishment of the older and earlier tradition of burying pharaohs under a mastaba, a flat rectangular structure much like a large covering of a grave.

12- Dahshur Pyramids

The Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid at Dahshur immediately followed the Giza Pyramids in their construction, so Sneferu was the father of Khufu. The architecture of the smooth-sided pyramids that Sneferu pioneered in constructing the largest pyramid in Giza would be ideal for Khufu’s engineers.

The Bent Pyramid is called a ‘transitional’ pyramid because about one-third of the way up, the angle of its sides shifts suddenly. This is attributed by archaeologists to an engineering crisis during construction. The architect realised that it would be structurally unsound through the steep, 54-degree inclination of its sides.
